(A) Except as otherwise provided by this Charter, all persons holding office at the time this Charter takes effect shall continue in office and in the performance of their duties until other provisions have been made in accordance with this Charter for the performance or discontinuance of the duties of the office. When that provision shall have been made, the term of any officer shall expire and the office shall be abolished. The powers conferred and the duties imposed upon any officer, body, commission, board, department, or division of the Municipality under the laws of Ohio or under any municipal ordinance, resolution, or contract in force at the time this charter takes effect shall, if the office, body, commission, board, department, or division is abolished by this Charter, be thereafter exercised and discharged by those upon whom are imposed corresponding functions, powers, and duties by this Charter or by any ordinance or resolution of Council thereafter enacted.
(B) On January 1, 1979, the office of Mayor under the statutory plan of government for the Village of Brookville is abolished and the term of office of the person then holding that office is terminated and ended; however, the person holding the office of Mayor under the statutory plan of government for the Village of Brookville on January 1, 1979, is hereby designated as a member of the Council and Mayor under this Charter, with all powers, duties, and functions of a member of Council and the Mayor under this Charter, to serve until December 31, 1979.
(C) The persons holding office as members of the Council under the general statutory plan of government for the Village of Brookville are hereby designated, together with the person designated in division (B) hereof, as members of the Council under this Charter, with all the powers, duties, and functions of members of Council under this Charter, to serve until December 31, 1979.
(D) The person holding the office of Village Administrator under the general statutory plan of government for the Village of Brookville on January 1, 1979, is hereby designated to serve as the Acting Manager under this Charter, with all the powers, duties, and functions of the Manager under this Charter, to serve until a Manager is appointed pursuant to this Charter. The office of Village Administrator under the general statutory plan of government for the Village of Brookville shall be abolished on January 1, 1979, and the tenure of the person holding such office shall be terminated and ended on that date.
(E) The person holding the office of Village Clerk-Treasurer under the general statutory plan of government for the Village of Brookville on January 1, 1979, is hereby designated to serve as the Acting Director of Finance and Acting Clerk of Council under this Charter, with all the powers, duties, and functions of the Director of Finance and Clerk of Council under this Charter, until a Director of Finance and Clerk of Council is appointed pursuant to this Charter. The office of Village Clerk-Treasurer under the general statutory plan of government shall be abolished on January 1, 1979, and the term of office of the person holding such office shall be terminated and ended on that date.
(F) The person holding the office of or employed as the Village Solicitor under the general statutory plan of government for the Village of Brookville on January 1, 1979, is hereby designated to serve as the Acting Director of Law under this Charter, with all the powers, duties, and functions of the Director of Law under this Charter, until a Director of Law is appointed pursuant to this Charter. The office of Village Solicitor under the general statutory plan of government shall be abolished on January 1, 1979, and the term of tenure of the person holding such office shall be terminated and ended on that date.
(G) The persons serving as members of the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals and Board of Park Trustees under the general statutory plan of government for the Village of Brookville on January 1, 1979, shall continue to perform the powers, duties, and functions then existing for such boards and commission, until such time as the membership of the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals and Board of Park Trustees, as created by this Charter, are appointed; and after such appointments, such boards and commissions under the general statutory plan of government shall be abolished and the terms of office of members of such boards and commissions under the general statutory plan of government shall terminate and end.
