270.04   USE OF VILLAGE VEHICLES.
   (a)   Definitions. As used in this section:
      (1)   “Village business” means any and all activities undertaken incident to the performance of duties or responsibilities relating to one's position, office or employment with the Village.
      (2)   “Village vehicles” means all vehicles titled in the name of the Village.

   (b)   Use for Village Business. Use of Village vehicles shall be restricted to Village business. Except as provided in subsection (d) below.
   (c)   Official Insignia Required; Exception.
      (1)   All Village vehicles shall bear the official insignia of the Village.
      (2)   The provisions of paragraph (c)(1) hereof shall not apply to any Village vehicle utilized by the Police Chief, Mayor, Fire Chief, and vehicles utilized by the Police Department for surveillance, investigative work or other authorized police activities.
   (d)   The Mayor, Police Chief and Fire Chief each shall be provided with an automobile at Village expense and maintenance. Because the nature of the position requires the Mayor, Police Chief and Fire Chief to be on call and available for Village business twenty-four hours a day, the Mayor, Police Chief and Fire Chief are authorized to use the automobiles in driving to and from the place of employment. The Mayor, Police Chief and Fire Chief are further authorized to use the automobiles in driving on miscellaneous minor personal matters, as long as each the Mayor, Police Chief and Fire Chief reimburse the Village at the rate of six hundred dollars ($600.00) per year. The Clerk/Treasurer is authorized to enter into appropriate financial arrangements to carry out the provisions of this section.
