244.01   DUTIES; COMPENSATION.
   (a)   The Law Director shall attend all meetings of Council, and, when requested, all meetings of the Planning Commission and the Board of Zoning Appeals, and, at the direction of the Mayor, all sessions of the Mayor's Court. He or she shall prepare all contracts, documents, ordinances, resolutions and all papers in which the Village is interested, and shall prosecute or defend, as the case may be, all suits or proceedings in which the Village or its officials are a party, and generally do all things required by statute of a Law Director.

   (b)   The Law Director shall receive such compensation, payable monthly or bi-monthly, as shall be determined by Council in a contract to be negotiated for a period not to exceed two years.

   (c)   In addition to the compensation provided for in division (b) of this section, the Law Director shall receive reasonable compensation in connection with suits or proceedings by or against the Village or any of its officials, and, in connection with street improvements or bond issues, such reasonable compensation as is fixed and determined by Council.
   (d)   The Director of Law is hereby authorized to employ the services of special legal counsel to assist the Village in conducting collective bargaining, arbitration and related matters with various representatives of the Village employees on an ongoing basis and to advise the Village in connection therewith.
   (e)   The Director of Law is hereby authorized to employ the services of special legal counsel for general municipal issues or complaints, suits, and/or other controversies involving the Village or any officers or employees of the Village or any board or agency thereof.
