As used in this chapter:
(a) “Peddler” includes any hawker, huckster, or solicitor, and any person, whether a resident of the Village or not, traveling by foot, wagon, motor vehicle, or any other type of conveyance, from place to place, from house to house or from street to street, carrying, conveying, or transporting goods, wares, merchandise, farm products or provisions, offering and exposing the same for sale, or making sales and delivering articles to purchasers, or taking orders for the purchase of goods, wares, or merchandise by samples, lists, or catalogues, or subscriptions for books and magazines from a person not a dealer therein, or without traveling from place to place, selling or offering the same for sale from a wagon, motor vehicle, railroad car, or other vehicle or conveyance. This definition does not include any person who sells or offers for sale any product of his or her own raising or the manufacturer of any article manufactured by him or her or his or her direct selling agent, and does not include any person engaged in the sale of dairy and bakery products by traveling over regularly established routes and transacting business on private property.
(b) “Person” includes the singular and the plural and also includes any person, firm or corporation, association, club, copartnership or society, or any other organization.
