Any person who violates, disobeys, omits, neglects or refuses to comply with any provision of this chapter shall be punished for each offense, upon conviction of a misdemeanor by a fine of not more than $500 and costs of prosecution, or by imprisonment for a period not exceeding 90 days, or by both fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the court. Each day that a violation is permitted to continue shall constitute a separate offense.
