(A) Smoke detectors shall be installed in all existing multi-family and apartment buildings. All such existing multi-family and apartment buildings shall, within one year of the effective date of this section (Ordinance 20-97, passed February 18, 1997), comply with the requirements of this section.
(B) All persons affected by the requirements of this section shall produce evidence of compliance, either by affidavit or by inspection, in January of each year, or at other such reasonable times as the Fire Chief or Fire Prevention Officer determines.
