§ 1440.06 COMPOSITION OF BUILDING DEPARTMENT; APPOINTMENTS; DUTIES.
   The persons comprising the Building Department shall be appointed by the Mayor. In the event of the temporary absence of any member of the Building Department, the Mayor shall, in his or her discretion, appoint a temporary replacement to serve during such absence. Such temporary appointment shall be paid an amount not to exceed the rate of the official who is being temporarily replaced. The persons employed within the Building Department shall include, but not be limited to, the following full-time and/or part-time positions.
   (A)   Building Commissioner. Under the direction of the Mayor, this position is responsible for the performance and oversight of the duties of the Building Department, which shall include directing and organizing the Department, program administration and service delivery in the areas of economic development, planning, zoning, building inspections and Code enforcement.
    (B)   Assistant Building Commissioner. Under the direction of the Building Commissioner, this position is responsible for assisting the Building Commissioner in the performance and oversight of the duties of the Building Department, which shall include building inspections, Code enforcement and such other duties as may be directed by the Building Commissioner.
    (C)   Building Inspector. Under the direction of the Building Commissioner, this position shall perform duties as required in this Building and Housing Code and in the adopted building codes and such other duties as may be directed by the Building Commissioner. Any building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical or automatic sprinkler systems inspector shall be classified as a Building Inspector.
   (D)   Zoning Inspector. Under the direction of the Building Commissioner, this position shall perform duties as required in this Building and Housing Code, the Planning and Zoning Code and the adopted property maintenance codes, and other duties as may be directed by the Building Commissioner.
   (E)   Secretary. Under the direction of the Building Commissioner, this position shall perform secretarial duties as may be directed by the Building Commissioner.
    (F)   Clerical Assistant. Under the direction of the Building Commissioner, this position shall perform clerical duties as may be directed by the Building Commissioner.
