(A) The position of Traffic Engineer is hereby established. The Traffic Engineer shall be the Marshal of the town and shall exercise the powers and duties provided for in this chapter, if the Traffic Engineer may be absent from the town or incapable of performing his or her duties, the duties and powers of the Traffic Engineer shall be vested in an officer of the Marshal’s Department delegated by the Traffic Engineer.
(B) It is the general duty of the Traffic Engineer to plan and determine the installation and proper timing and maintenance of traffic-control devices; to plan and direct the operation of traffic on the streets of this town, including parking areas; to conduct investigations of traffic conditions; to cooperate with other municipal and state officials and to make recommendations for the improvement of traffic movement and conditions, including improvements in streets; and to carry out the additional powers and duties imposed by ordinances of this town and F.S. Ch. 316.
