§ 32.31 CHIEF OF POLICE.
   (A)   Appointment and removal.
      (1)   The Chief of Police shall be qualified to serve as a police officer in the state and shall be appointed by the Mayor, with the advice and consent of the Village Board of Trustees.
      (2)   Removal of the Chief of Police shall be made pursuant to the provisions of 65 ILCS 5/3.1- 35-10.
   (B)   Powers and duties.
      (1)   The Chief of Police shall serve in the capacity of a police officer and administrator of the Police Department.
      (2)   The Chief shall present all recommendations and information on behalf of the Police Department to the public safety committee and/or Village Board of Trustees in the areas of expenditures of funds, establishment of Police Department policies, or any other matters pertaining to the operation of the Police Department.
      (3)   The Chief shall also be responsible for the formulation of work schedules and the deployment of manpower and equipment necessary for the efficient and economic operation of the Police Department.
