No person shall erect or maintain in the village any fence, railing, or guard which has thereon wire, iron spikes, or other sharp pointed metal instruments; provided, however, customary barbed wire fences for stock may be erected and maintained in any area classified as agricultural under the village zoning ordinance, but not within five feet of the traveled portion of a public road or public sidewalk.
