In addition to the definitions set forth in § 110.002 of this code of ordinances, the following words and phrases used in this subchapter shall have the meaning herein prescribed.
SOLICITOR.
(1) Any person selling, offering for sale or taking orders for merchandise, or conducting any activity for which the person receives consideration or remuneration, door-to-door within the city.
(2) Merchandise shall include goods, food, wares, photographs, subscriptions to any kind of publications, tickets, coupons or receipts representing value.
(3) The term SOLICITOR includes, but is not limited to, photographers, sellers of magazines, cosmetics, home care products and the like, and any other person engaged in direct sales, whether to residences or businesses, but specifically excludes newspaper carriers, candidates for public office, or persons conducting activities on behalf of religious organizations.
