§ 156.481 PURPOSE.
   (A)   The purposes of these sign regulations are:
      (1)   To encourage the effective use of signs as a means of communication by businesses and others in the city;
      (2)   To maintain and enhance the aesthetic environment and the city’s ability to promote economic development and growth;
      (3)   To promote an environment that fosters business creation and growth;
      (4)   To protect the appearance of the Central Business District of the city as a unique historical and visual environment;
      (5)   To improve pedestrian and traffic safety;
      (6)   To minimize the possible adverse effect of signs on nearby public and private property;
      (7)   To enable the fair and consistent enforcement of these sign regulations; and
      (8)   To secure, promote and implement the purposes and goals of the city’s General Plan.
   (B)   This subchapter is adopted under the zoning authority of the city in furtherance of the more general purposes set forth in this chapter.
