The tuition and books of basic academy training
required to be appointed as a police officer of any type under this chapter, except auxiliary officers, shall be reimbursed in the amount of 50% thereof to the officer upon the completion of one year satisfactory service as a police officer in this village. The remaining 50% shall be reimbursed on completion of the second year of satisfactory service as a police officer in this village.
