For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
ARBORIST. A specialist in the maintenance or planting of trees.
CONTRACTOR. Any person or firm that contracts to supply certain materials or provide specific work for a stipulated sum.
DEVIL STRIP. The strip of land between the edge of the curb or road and the sidewalk.
EASEMENT. A right or privilege that a person may have on another’s land, such as a right-of-way.
PARK. Includes all parks having individual names.
PARK TREES. Trees, shrubs and bushes in all public parks having individual names, and all other areas owned by the village, or to which the public has free access as a park.
PERSON. As used in this chapter shall include all firms, associations, corporations and persons connected with such firms, associations and corporations.
PRIVATE TREE. Any tree that is on private property.
RIGHT-OF-WAY. Includes all lands lying between the property lines on either side of all public streets, roads, boulevards and alleys.
STREET TREE. Trees, shrubs and bushes on land lying between property lines on either side of all streets, roads, boulevards and alleys within the village.
