§ 110.01 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   ITINERANT MERCHANT. Any person, whether as owner, agent, consignee, employee or otherwise, and whether a resident of the town or not, who engages in a temporary business of making or selling and delivering goods, wares and merchandise within the town, and who, in furtherance of such purposes, hires, leases, uses or occupies any building, structure or motor vehicle, or any street, alley or any other place within the town, for the exhibition and sale of any goods, wares or merchandise, either privately or at public auction.
   PEDDLER. Any person, whether a town resident or not, who travels by foot, wagon, motorized vehicle or any other type of conveyance from place to place carrying, conveying or transporting goods, wares, merchandise, foods or provisions, offering and exposing the same for sale or making sales and delivering articles to purchasers, or who, without traveling from place to place, shall sell or offer the same for sale from any type of vehicle or conveyance; provided, however, that such does not apply to the sale of farm products cultivated and raised in this state by its farmers.
   SOLICITOR. Any individual, whether a town resident or not, traveling by foot, wagon, motorized vehicle or any other type of conveyance from place to place taking, or attempting to take, orders for the sale of goods, wares and merchandise, or personal property of any nature whatsoever, for future delivery; or for services to be furnished or performed in the future, whether or not such individual has a sample of the subject of such sale or whether he or she is collecting advance payments on such sales or not; provided, such definition shall include any person who, for himself or herself or for another person, hires, uses or occupies any building, structure or motor vehicle or any street, alley or any other place within the town for the purpose of exhibiting samples and taking orders for future delivery.
