§ 30.03 TOWN COUNCIL; RESIDENCY, OATH AND TERM.
   (A)   Generally.
      (1)   For the purpose of this code, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
         COUNCIL. The Town Council of the Town of Bremen.
         TOWN. The Town of Bremen.
      (2)   The Council consists of four members.
      (3)   The members of the Council shall be elected at large by the voters of the whole town in accordance with I.C. 36-5-2-5.
      (4)   The Council members shall reside in the town when they file their declaration of candidacy and at the time of their election and taking office. A Council member who moves his or her residence outside the town limits immediately vacates his or her seat and shall be replaced.
      (5)   The Clerk-Treasurer of the town shall forward a signed copy of this code to the Circuit Court Clerk of the county and shall request the Clerk to include the copy of the code section in the records of the County Election Board.

   (B)   Residency. Candidates for the office of Town Council shall reside in the town in which they are nominated and elected. Candidates shall be citizens of the United States and be of legal voting age.

   (C)   Oath of office. Each candidate shall, prior to taking office, take and subscribe to the usual oath or affirmation for the faithful performance of the duties of his or her respective office.

   (D)   Term. An elected term of office is four years. If a vacancy occurs, the Council shall fill such vacancy by appointing a person to serve in that office for the remainder of the unexpired term unless otherwise provided by state law.
