(A) When the city civil engineer shall have granted any permit, the City Clerk shall issue to the person to whom the permit shall have been granted, a certified copy thereof under his or her hand and seal which shall authorize the removal of the building for which the permit is granted.
(B) However, no copy shall be issued until the person asking the same shall have filed with, and to the approval of the Clerk-Treasurer, a bond with sufficient surety, conditioned for the faithful performance of the work of removing the building according to the specifications in the permit, and for the payment of any damages that the city may sustain to its streets or otherwise by the removal of the building and that the obligors in the bond will defend, at their own expense, any suit that may be brought against the city for damages to person or property growing out of the removal of the building and that they will pay any judgment that may be finally obtained in any case and save the city harmless.
