§ 53.001  CONTROL OF WATERWORKS.
   (A)   The Department of Waterworks shall be abolished, and the Board of Trustees of the Department shall be dissolved. The operation of the Waterworks shall be returned to the Board of Public Works and Safety. The effective date of the abolition of the Department of Waterworks was February 1, 1964, except that the Board of Trustees of the Department shall have no authority from the date of passage of this chapter to make any contract, obligations or promises which will create any liability on the part of the city, without approval of the Board of Public Works and Safety.
   (B)   The Board of Trustees of the Department of Waterworks shall turn over the possession, care and custody of all assets including real estate, personal property, books and funds under its control to the Board of Public Works and Safety. The assets shall include, but not be limited to, all property turned over to the control of the Board of Trustees of the Department by Res. 16-1963, passed by the Common Council of the city. All bank accounts shall be transferred into the name of the Clerk-Treasurer of the city.
