1161.06 BUSINESS SIGNS.
   (a)    Business signs are permitted only as accessory uses to permitted principal uses.
 
   (b)    Signs shalI be securely attached to the building, against a wall of a building, or under a marquee or structural canopy of a building or so constructed as to be an integral part of a wall of a building. Such signs shall not be attached to or project from the roof of the building, shall not be longer than nor extend beyond the top or end of the wall, marquee or canopy to which it is attached, or of which it forms an integral part, and may not be set apart from the building or mounted, hung, fastened or suspended in any other fashion. No portion of any such attached sign shall project more than sixteen inches from any wall to which the sign is attached or forms an integral part, and any sign attached under a marquee or canopy shall clear any walkway below by at least eight feet. Any such sign shall be separated from such building by not more then eight inches.
 
   (c)    The total surface area of all such attached signs, whether announcing the name of the building or any uses therein, shall be limited to one-half square foot of sign for each foot of building frontage on which the sign is located but in no case shall the total sign area equal more than seventy-five square feet for any establishment. The design of any special monogram or logo displayed shall be correlated with any such sign and shall be part of such sign for purposes of the aggregate surface area limitation of this section. Signs may be illuminated either internally or externally but shall not include flashing or alternating lights or moving parts.
