(a) There is established the Board of Zoning Appeals of five members, consisting of the Mayor, a Council member representative to be appointed by the Council and three (3) resident freeholders appointed by the Mayor and approved by Council prior to the effectiveness of the appointment for a term consisting of two years commencing on January 1 of the even numbered years, but who shall initially be appointed for a term ending December 31, 1963.
(b) There shall be appointed two alternate members who are resident freeholders appointed by the Mayor and approved by Council. In the event a regular member is absent for any reason or has a conflict of interest with respect to a proposed project under review, an alternate member shall be designated by the Chairman of the Board to serve during such absence or such conflict of interest. When serving in the place of a regular member of the Board, an alternate member shall have the same powers and perform the same duties as a regular member of the Board. (Ord. 4067. Passed 5-20-20.)
