(a) The Mayor may appoint such deputy clerks as he deems advisable, who shall serve at the pleasure of the Mayor, to perform the duties pertaining to the office of Clerk. Deputy clerks shall be compensated out of the Village treasury as Council may prescribe.
(b) Each deputy clerk shall take an oath of office before entering upon his duties, and the Mayor may require any deputy clerk to give bond in the amount of five hundred dollars ($500.00), conditioned upon the faithful performance of his duties, and the premium shall be paid by the Village.
