(A) Monuments, headstones, and footstones are to be made of granite, marble, or bronze. Bronze tablets must be fastened on durable stone. Wood, plaster of paris, concrete, sandstone, and similar materials will not be permitted in monuments, headstones, and footstones. Total height of new monuments/headstone (grass line to top of monument) shall not exceed 36 inches. Any violation may result in the city issuing an “order to remove” item at the expense of the installer/owner.
(B) The width of monuments, headstones, and footstones shall not exceed 24 inches for single graves and 48 inches for double graves. Maximum width dimensions:
(1) Single: 24-inch headstone / 32-inch base / 40-inch foundation.
(2) Double: 48-inch headstone / 60-inch base / 68-inch foundation.
(C) Family plots may have a family monument of a size that will not interfere with burials.
(D) Foundations shall be constructed of concrete and extend four inches on each side of the monument or headstone. Depth shall be 30 inches. All foundations will be installed/constructed by the Public Works Department.
(E) The city shall have no financial responsibility for payment of any cost incurred to procure, set, reposition or relocate any monument or marker in the cemetery.
(F) Monuments and markers not set in accordance with these regulations may be removed at the owner's expense. Failure to reimburse the city the cost for the removal will result in the replacement monument that does meet city requirements from being permitted to be set on the foundation.
(G) The contractor engaged to install a vault shall be solely responsible for the proper setting of the vault and all work incidental thereto. The contractor shall employ adequate planking or methods to protect the turf and shall remove all equipment and materials immediately upon completion of the work. The contractor shall be financially responsible for all damage done to the cemetery grounds and improvements directly or indirectly resulting from the contractor's activities.
