§ 98.40 WORK ON PUBLIC STREETS, RIGHT-OF-WAYS, AND GROUNDS; EXCAVATION PERMIT REQUIRED.
   (A)   This section shall address extensions of municipal owned utilities, driveways, sidewalks, and other minor rights-of-way disturbances resulting from residential uses. All other rights-of-way management shall be addressed later in this chapter.
   (B)   No person shall open up or break into the streets, public ways, or public grounds for the purpose of connecting with the water or gas lines or with the sewers, drains, or ditches, or for any other purpose whatsoever, until such person shall have first obtained an excavation permit from the office of the Public Works Director. Permits shall become void after one year unless extended for up to one year by order of the Public Works Director. A permit can be extended for a period of one year by order of the Director.
   (C)   The person obtaining an excavation permit shall pay the sum for each permit granted hereunder.
   (D)   The permit must be kept on the site of the construction or reconstruction until completion of the work and be available to city representatives upon request.
