§ 33.08 POLICE DIVISION COMPOSITION.
   (A)   The classified civil service employees in the competitive class in the Police Division shall consist of the Chief, a Police Deputy Chief, and an unspecified number of Lieutenants, Sergeants, and Police Officers, as determined by the Mayor. Other job classifications within the Police Division shall include animal control officer, parking services technician, civil enforcement technician, dispatcher, and secretary. The regular weekly working hours for all regular Police Division personnel below the rank of Police Deputy Chief shall be 40 hours weekly, unless negotiated otherwise in a collective bargaining agreement. For time worked in excess of 40 hours weekly, overtime pay shall be paid as provided in the current labor contracts, or other city policies, whichever is applicable. New appointees in the Police Division shall be trainees on probation for a period of one year.
   (B)   No person shall be eligible to receive an original appointment as a police officer in the Police Division unless he or she has reached the age of 21. Furthermore, no person shall be eligible to receive an original appointment as a police officer in the Police Division on or after the person's forty-first birthday. As set forth in this section, “original appointment” means the Police Division candidate has completed all the necessary steps for hiring as required by the city and/or its Civil Service Commission and the candidate has an actual hire date prior to becoming 41 years of age. Any and all ordinance(s) or Civil Service Commission Rule(s) in conflict with the express provision of this division (B) are hereby superseded.
