§ 34.19 OVERTIME.
   (A)   For purposes of calculating and paying overtime compensation for those village employees who are eligible and required to receive overtime compensation under applicable provisions of law, overtime pay shall be based on a 40-hour work week, and an employee shall not be entitled to overtime pay unless and until the employee has worked more than 40 hours in any one work week period.
   (B)   Unless the Mayor, or in his or her absence, the President of the Council or the Village Administrator, determines that an emergency situation exists, overtime shall be limited to four hours per week, among all village employees.
   (C)   Every effort shall be made by the Village Administrator to eliminate all overtime through adjustments in the village employees’ work schedules.
   (D)   Employees shall be compensated at one and one-half times their hourly rate for overtime worked or by compensatory time in lieu thereof at the option of the individual employee.
   (E)   For purposes of calculating overtime, a WORK WEEK PERIOD is defined as being Sunday through Saturday.
   (F)   As permitted by applicable sections of the Fair Labor Standard Practices Act, being 29 U.S.C. §§ 201 et seq., this section does not apply to members of the Police and Auxiliary Police Departments.
