(A) In accordance with R.C. § 7335.48(A), the position of Village Solicitor is hereby established. The Village Council has deemed it necessary to provide legal counsel for the village and its departments.
(B) The compensation of the Village Solicitor shall be as set forth from Council from time to time. The compensation shall cover the normal duties of the office of Solicitor, which includes attending Council meetings and at least two additional meetings at the request of the Mayor, Council, and/or Village Administrator, and drafting and preparation of routine ordinances and resolutions. Excluded are extraordinary services, including, but not limited to, appearances on behalf of the village, drafting and preparing of special legislative enactments, preparation of ballot issues for the village, preparations of bond issues and renewals, matters associated with the village income tax and wastewater treatment plant, zoning, and annexation issues. Such extraordinary matters shall be by prior approval of Council. The solicitor or his or her assistants shall be paid in addition for extraordinary matters.
(C) It shall be the duty of the Village Solicitor to act as attorney and counsel for the village and officers thereto in their official capacity, and as such attorney, to prepare ordinances, render legal opinions to the Council, Mayor, and Village Administrator upon request.
