§ 52.01 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   B.O.D. (BIOCHEMICAL OXYGEN DEMAND). The quantity of oxygen utilized in the biochemical oxidation of organic matter under standard laboratory procedure in five days at 20°C, expressed in parts per million by weight.
   GARBAGE. Wastes from the preparation, cooking, handling, storage, sale and dispensing of food.
   INDUSTRIAL DISCHARGER. Any non-residential user who discharges industrial wastes into a public sewer.
   INDUSTRIAL WASTES. All other wastes contributed to a public sewer as distinct from sanitary sewage.
   MUNICIPAL WASTE WORKS. All devices and structures for collecting, pumping, treating and disposing of municipal wastes.
   MUNICIPAL WASTES. A combination of the water-carried sanitary sewage and industrial wastes from residential users and industrial dischargers.
   NATURAL OUTLET. Any outlet into a watercourse, pond, ditch, lake, or other body of surface or ground water.
   pH. The logarithm of the reciprocal of the weight of hydrogen ions.
   PROPERLY SHREDDED GARBAGE. Wastes from the preparation, cooking, handling, storage, sale and dispensing of food that have been shredded to such a degree that all particles are carried freely under the flow conditions normally prevailing in a public sewer, with no particle greater than one-half inch.
   PUBLIC SEWER. All facilities in which owners of abutting property have equal usage rights, which are controlled by the village and which carry industrial wastes and sanitary sewage from sewers to the municipal waste works.
   RESIDENTIAL USER. Any person who discharges primarily sanitary sewage into a public sewer.
   SANITARY SEWAGE. Wastes contributed to a public sewer by reason of human occupancy of a building.
   SEWER. A pipe or conduit for carrying industrial wastes or sanitary sewage from a building to the public sewer.
   SLUG LOAD. Any pollutant, including oxygen demanding pollutants (B.O.D. and the like), released in a single discharge from a single industrial discharger of such volume or strength as to cause interference with the municipal waste works.
   SUSPENDED SOLIDS. Solids that are suspended in or float on the surface of water, municipal waste or other liquids and which are removable by laboratory filtering.
   VILLAGE ADMINISTRATOR. The Village Administrator of the Village of Botkins, or his or her authorized deputy, agent or representative.
