(a) The Road Superintendent, along with the Mayor, shall designate the items of clothing required of each employee, subject to confirmation by the Council.
(b) The Uniform Standard shall consist of tee shirts, sweatshirts, and hooded sweatshirts in a dark shade consistent with or matching their pants.
(c) The Uniform Standard shall consist of cotton, polyester, or denim pants in a dark shade consistent with gray, blue, or black.
(d) The footwear shall consist of steel-toed work boot. Employees shall not wear tennis shoes or dress shoes.
(e) Road department personnel may use their Uniform Allowance for those items designated by subsection (b) and (c) hereof.
(f) At the employee’s designation, the Village will pay all invoices for the full-time Service Foreman, Truck Driver/Laborer, and Casual Laborer, who contract to have their uniform supplied by an outside vendor up to the amount of the Uniform Allowance for Road Department Personnel. Upon exhausting the amount of their Uniform Allowance, the employee will have the weekly or monthly contract amount for their uniform deducted from their paycheck.
(g) In lieu of the Street Department Uniform Allowance, the Village will pay the invoices for the full-time Mechanic/Truck Driver/Laborer to contract with the Village’s uniform suplier for his/her unforms, up to five pair of pants and five shirts per week, for the entire calendar year. The Mechanic/Truck Driver/Laborer is also entitled to purchase a pair of steel-toed work boots and tender the receipt to the Village for reimbursement.
(h) The road department personnel must use their uniform allowance by December 15th of the calendar year in which it is received or the employee with forfeit or waive the remaining balance. All road department personnel must submit all invoices or receipts for reimbursement to the Office Administrator no later than December 22nd of that same calendar year.
