(A) All PVC pipe is to be in accordance with A.S.T.M. D2241. PVC material shall conform to A.S.T.M. D1784. Pipe shall have push-on joints with integral bell and locked in gasket and shall conform to A.S.T.M. D3139. The bell shall consist of an integral wall section with a locked-in, solid cross-section elastomeric ring which meets the requirements of A.S.T.M. F-477. Pipe will also be the type approved by the National Sanitation Foundation and shall bear the NSF logo.
(B) All pipe for six-inch and larger mains shall conform to AWWA Standard C-900, DR 14, Class 200, rated with a working pressure of 200 psi. All fittings shall be mechanical joint cast iron, as specified above.
(C) PVC pipe will be used only in areas where the highest working pressure is 125 psi or less. Ductile iron pipe will be required in all locations where the working pressure exceeds 125 psi, as measured or calculated.
(D) All pipes and materials are to be tested according to the requirements of AWWA Standard C-900. Certified test results are to be provided to the town when requested. These tests shall be performed by an independent testing laboratory at the expense of the pipe manufacturer.
