§ 35.01 RANK STRUCTURE.
   (A)   The Village Council establishes an amended rank structure for the Village Police Department.
   (B)   Effective on January 1, 2017, there will be the following ranks for the Village Police Department:
      (1)   Chief of Police.
         (a)   Head of the Department and having all duties of Village Marshal as set forth in the R.C. §§ 737.15 et seq.; and
         (b)   This is a salaried position with compensation as determined by the village.
      (2)   Police lieutenant. Supervisory position having generally the duties as police sergeants however possessing a superior rank. May have additional responsibilities as determined by the Chief and the Mayor. This is a salaried position with compensation as determined by the village. This rank is deemed to be a non-mandated position and the Police Department need not have an acting officer in this rank. Award of this rank will be upon recommendation of the Chief to the Mayor and does not entitled the holder to any increase in salary upon award of rank;
      (3)   Police sergeant. No more than two at any time. Supervisory position having generally the duties of assisting the Chief with administrative duties of the Department, special projects and other duties as assigned by the Chief. This rank is a superior rank to police officers other than the Chief and lieutenant. This is a salaried position with compensation as determined by the village. Award of this rank will be upon recommendation of the Chief to the Mayor;
      (4)   Police corporal. No limitations on number. This is not a supervisory position and has the same duties of a police officer. The rank of corporal is an honorary rank granted by the village to recognize an officer of long service and/or an officer deserving of special recognition. This rank is deemed to be a non-mandated position and the Police Department need not have an acting officer in this rank. Award of this rank will be upon recommendation of the Chief to the Mayor and does not entitled the holder to any increase in salary upon award of rank; and
      (5)   Police officer. No limitations on number. This is a non-supervisory position and has generally the duties of a Deputy Village Marshal as set forth in R.C. § 737.15. Other duties as assigned.
