§ 33.080 CITY SHALL PICK UP CONTRIBUTIONS TO FUND.
   The city shall pick up those contributions to the Police and Firemen’s Pension Funds which are required from the police officers and firefighters as contributions pursuant to 40 ILCS 5/1-101 et seq., the Illinois Pension Code. All said contributions shall be treated as employer contributions in determining tax treatment under the United States Internal Revenue Code. The employees shall not be allowed to receive any portion of the contribution picked up by the city and paid into the Police and Firemen’s Pension Funds in cash or its equivalent in lieu of having these funds paid directly into the respective pension fund.

§ 33.081 REDUCTION OF SALARY EQUAL TO CONTRIBUTION.
   The cash salary of each firefighter and police officer shall be reduced by an amount equal to the amount of the employer contribution made by the city for each such police officer or firefighter.

§ 33.082 TREATMENT OF CONTRIBUTIONS.
   All such contributions shall be treated for all purposes the same as if these contributions were made by the firefighter or police officer.

§ 33.999 PENALTY.
   (A)   Any person violating any provision of this chapter shall be subject to penalties provided for in the city’s fee and fine schedule, as exists currently and as may be amended by City Council.
   (B)   Any person who violates the provisions of §§ 33.011 through 33.014 of this chapter or any one or more of them shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall upon conviction by court be punished by a fine as set forth in the city’s fee and fine schedule for each offense.
