All members of the Reserve Unit shall be subject to the following restrictions.
(A) No employment shall be acceptable which involves the police uniform or police authority without specific permission of the Chief of Police. (This refers to guard duty, handling traffic in a business area, and the like.)
(B) A Reserve Officer, while off duty, will consider themself a private citizen with no more authority than a private citizen. The Reserve Office shall not represent themself to be a Reserve Officer, either to pull over traffic violators or to make arrests. If a Reserve Officer feels that some unusual emergency warrants an exception to this rule, the Reserve Officer shall do so on the Officer’s own responsibility and shall be held personally liable for the results.
(Prior Code, § 33.066) (Ord. 2710, passed 7-23-1985)
All the members of the Part-Time Reserve Unit are subject to the discipline of the Police Department while on duty and shall refrain from any conduct which would embarrass the Department while off duty.
