For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
TAXICAB. Any public passenger vehicle equipped with a taximeter and licensed as a taxicab.
TAXIMETER. A mechanical instrument or device by which the charge for hire of a public taxicab is mechanically calculated, either for distance traveled or for waiting time, or for both, and upon which such charge shall be indicated by means of figures.
