(a) No person, recklessly or by force, shall resist or interfere with the arrest of himself or another by one whom such person knows, or has reason to know, is an authorized law enforcement officer engaged in the performance of his duties, whether or not such arrest is illegal under the circumstances.

(b) Whoever violates this section is guilty of resisting arrest, a misdemeanor of the second degree.
(c) This section does not apply if the offender, while resisting arrest, brandishes a deadly weapon, as defined in Section 549.01(a) or Ohio R.C. 2923.11, or attempts to gain control of a deadly weapon that is in the possession of a law enforcement officer.
