(a) The owner of a building within the city containing a
shall:
(1) Maintain the
in an operative condition at all times and shall ensure that all necessary repairs are made; and
(2) Hire a licensed by the state to inspect the
and file a
inspection report with the city once a year.
(b) Any owner of a building that is required to file a
inspection report shall file the inspection report within 30 days after the inspection of the building. The
inspection report shall include:
(1) Written documentation that the who inspected the
is licensed by the state to install or repair
; and
(2) Written certification provided within 30 days of the life system inspection that the
has been inspected and tested and either meets or does not meet the MSFC or its adopted standards, including but not limited to the National Fire Code or National Fire Protection Association standards; and
(3) If the
does not meet the operational requirements identified above, a written certification the owner has made all specified corrections to the
.
(c) The
shall issue orders to the owner of the building requiring the owner to make any necessary corrections identified in the
inspection report. If the owner fails to make the necessary corrections, the owner is in violation of subsection (a)(1) above.
(d) Exception. The annual inspection report requirement shall not apply to residential servicing only single-family dwellings where no portion of the dwelling is rented out.
