§ 17.27 WEIGHING OF VEHICLES.
   Any police officer or duly authorized person having reason to believe that the weight of any vehicle and load violates restrictions imposed under this code, is authorized to require the driver to stop and submit to the weighing of the same either by means of portable or stationary scales and may require that such vehicle be driven to the nearest public scales for the purpose of weighing such vehicle, and such vehicle shall not be taken a greater distance than five miles for such weighing.
