No person shall operate a motor vehicle on any street, alley or other place at a rate of speed greater than 25 mph unless a different rate of speed is specifically permitted by ordinance. In no instance shall a person drive a vehicle on State Highway 84 within the corporate limits of the city at a speed greater than 35 mph from the western limits of the city to the intersection of Pierce and Main Streets or from the intersection of Randolph and Main Streets to the eastern limits of the city. No person shall operate a motor vehicle at a rate of speed in excess of 25 mph between the intersections of Pierce and Main Streets and the intersection of Randolph and Main Streets. Where a different maximum speed is set by ordinance, appropriate signs shall be posted.
