12-6-25: ALLEYS:
   A.   Residential Areas: Alleys shall be avoided in residential areas except where deemed necessary by the city council for the continuing of existing city utilities and the repair and maintenance of such utilities. Where such alleys are required there shall be deducted as an alley, ten feet (10') on each side of each rear lot line.
   B.   Commercial And Industrial Districts: Alleys shall be provided in commercial and industrial districts, except that the mayor and city council may waive this requirement where other definite and assured provision is made for service access, such as off street loading, unloading and parking consistent with and adequate for the uses proposed.
   C.   Width: The right of way width of an alley shall be twenty feet (20') minimum.
   D.   Dead End Alleys: Dead end alleys shall not be permitted, except that the mayor and city council may waive this requirement where such dead end alley is unavoidable and where adequate turnaround facilities have been provided. (2003 Code § 12-07-25)
