8-13-10: QUALIFICATION AND TERM OF OFFICE OF AIRPORT COMMITTEE:
Four (4) members of the airport committee shall be resident taxpayers of the city or the county. One of those four (4) residents shall be associated with commercial aviation activities at the city airport; a second such resident member shall be a private aircraft owner, not engaged in commercial activities related to aviation; a third such resident member shall have no relationship to flying or aviation, either as an owner or operator of an aircraft, nor interested in a firm or corporation having an interest in matters pertaining to aviation, airports or related activities; the fourth such resident member may, but need not be, associated with aviation activities at the city airport. The fifth member of the airport committee shall be associated with commercial aviation at the city airport or shall be a private aircraft owner who uses the city airport on a regular basis. Such fifth member must be a resident of the state. The term of office for the first three (3) appointive members of the committee shall be one, two (2) and three (3) years, to be determined by lot, and thereafter the term of each member shall be three (3) years. The term of office for the last two (2) appointive members shall be for a term of three (3) years. Vacancies occurring otherwise than through the expiration of terms shall be filled by the mayor and confirmed by the city council. Members may be removed, after a public hearing, by the mayor, confirmed by a majority vote of the full city council. Members shall serve without compensation. (2003 Code § 8-10-10)
