The following words and phrases used in this chapter shall have the following meanings, unless a different meaning clearly appears from the context:
CORPORATION, PERSON, INDIVIDUAL OR ASSOCIATION: Include a corporation, individuals, association, joint stock company and copartnership.
OPERATION: The conducting of a general taxicab business.
TAXICAB: Any motor vehicle used for purpose of transporting persons for hire; providing, that "taxicab", as herein stated and herein defined, shall not include school buses or other motor vehicles used exclusively for the transportation of children to and from school, nor a motor bus with a seating capacity of over seven (7) passengers operated on a regular schedule over regularly designated streets, nor companies operating for the purpose of carrying U.S. mail or other U.S. property.
TAXICAB OWNER, OPERATOR OR LICENSEE: That person, firm, copartner, corporation, individual or association securing a license to operate upon and through the streets, avenues and alleys. (2003 Code § 5-09-01)
