No excavation permit shall be issued hereunder until the applicant has filed proof that he or she has, in force, a general liability policy having a limit of not less than $5,000,000, an automobile liability policy having a limit of not less than $5,000,000; a workers’ compensation policy having a limit of not less than $1,000,000; and an owner’s liability policy having a limit of not less than $2,000,000. By signing and submitting his or her application, the applicant agrees to save, indemnify, and hold harmless the city from any loss from injury or property damage resulting from the excavation.
