(A) No person is eligible for the office of the Mayor, unless he or she:
(1) Is at least 21 years old;
(2) Has been a resident of the state for at least three years; and
(3) Has been a resident for at least two years preceding the election to office of the city or an area which has been annexed by the city.
(B) The office of Mayor is considered vacant if the individual elected as Mayor ceases to be a resident of the city.
