Sec. 48-51. Authority of fire department and public works department to direct traffic.

   (a)   Fire department. Officers of the fire department, when at the scene of a fire, may direct or assist the police in directing traffic there at or in the immediate vicinity.

   (b)   Public works department. Employees of the public works department, when at a project site, may direct or assist the police in directing traffic.

   (c)   Penalty. Any person who disobeys a lawful direction of a person directing traffic in accordance with this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor subject to a fine of not less than $25.00.
