Sec. 34-3. Municipal court technology fund established and fee authorized.
   The municipal court, by and through the municipal judge or the court clerk, is hereby authorized to charge and collect a special fee of $4.00 from a defendant convicted of a misdemeanor offense in municipal court as a technology fee as a cost of court as authorized by Texas Code of Criminal Procedure art. 102.0172. The fee is collected by the clerk of the court and remitted to the municipal treasurer for deposit in the municipal court technology fund. Money in the fund may only be used to finance the following items when used for the purpose of providing financing for the purchase of technological enhancements for municipal court. The fund may only be used to finance the purchase of technological enhancements for the municipal court, including:
      (1)   Computer systems;
      (2)   Computer networks;
      (3)   Computer hardware;
      (4)   Computer software;
      (5)   Imaging systems;
      (6)   Electronic kiosks;
      (7)   Electronic ticket writers; and
      (8)   Docket management systems.
