(a) No person shall own, possess or harbor, within the city or other area within the jurisdiction of the ACD, any cat 16 weeks of age or older, unless it has been vaccinated against rabies in accordance with this section and state law. No person shall own, possess or harbor, within the city or other area within the jurisdiction of the ACD, any dog 16 weeks of age or older, unless it has been vaccinated against rabies in accordance with this section and state law, and vaccinated against distemper, and the parvovirus, in accordance with this section.
(b) Rabies vaccination must be repeated every 36 months.
(c) The distemper/parvovirus vaccinations shall be repeated as directed by a veterinarian or the state veterinarian.
(d) Any dog or cat redeemed from the ACD that is over 16 weeks of age must have been vaccinated against rabies within 12 months before it can be discharged. Any dog redeemed from the ACD must also have current vaccinations for distemper and parvovirus.
(e) A dog or cat must have a valid rabies vaccination tag on a collar or harness at all times.
