Any person violating any prohibition, requirement, duty or provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction, be punished by a fine not to exceed $2,000.00, provided that the violation is a violation of a provision governing fire safety, zoning, or public health and sanitation. If the violation does not govern fire safety zoning, or public health and sanitation, the fine shall not exceed $500.00. If the violation is continuing, each day's violation shall be deemed a separate offense. If any person is found guilty of cruelty to any animal under municipal, state or federal law, his permit to own, keep, or harbor or have custody of such animal shall be deemed automatically revoked, and no new permit or license may be issued.
