For the purpose of this section, the following definitions apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
City. The City of Big Lake, County of Sherburne, State of Minnesota.
General Election. An election held at regular intervals on a day determined by law at which the voters of the state or any of its subdivisions choose by ballot public officials or presidential electors.
Special Election. An election held at any other time permitted by statute to fill vacancies in municipal public offices which are held on dates pursuant to M.S. § 205.10, subd. 3a, as it may be amended from time to time.
Vacancy. A vacancy occurs for the reasons stated in M.S. §§ 351.02 and 412.02, as they may be amended from time to time, or other state law.
