§ 31.03 PAID VACATION LEAVE FOR FT EMPLOYEES.
   (A)   Accrual of vacation days.
      (1)   Beginning January 1, 2020, FT employees accrue paid vacation leave on a calendar year basis of full, continuous employment, as follows:
         (a)   First year: 15 days;
         (b)   Fifth year: 20 days;
         (c)   Eighth year: 25 days;
         (d)   Twelfth year: 30 days.
      (2)   This works out to a monthly accrual of paid vacation leave as follows: 1.25 days during years 1 through 4; 1.6 days during years 5 through 7; 2.08 days during years 8 through 11; and 2.5 days for 12 years and beyond. FT employees are entitled to the increased number of days of paid vacation leave on the January 1 in which they attain their fifth, eighth or 12th year of continuous employment.
      (3)   At the discretion of the supervisor, an FT employee may take vacation days that have not yet been accrued; however, paid vacation leave taken during the employee’s probationary period cannot exceed five days.
   (B)   Limit on accruals. FT employees may accumulate up to 30 days of accrued, unused vacation leave. Such accruals in excess of 30 days are forfeited.
   (C)   Holiday or illness during vacation. If a holiday falls on an FT employee’s regularly scheduled workday, the day is paid as a holiday and is not counted against vacation balances. Illness during vacation is not counted as sick leave, however the supervisor has discretion to consider sick leave if the FT employee suffers a serious accident or illness that impairs the intended benefits of vacation.
   (D)   Scheduling vacations. By the end of January, FT and PT employees will plan vacation with their department heads with consideration to the needs of the town. A request for specific vacation time can be denied if it could be detrimental to the needs of the town or the efficiency of the department.
   (E)   Termination of employment. FT employees will be paid all accrued unused vacation time upon termination of employment.
