(A) General requirements for water lines and fire hydrants are as follows:
(1) Unless otherwise provided herein, the subdivider shall install water lines and fire hydrants in compliance with the city's code and in compliance with standards and specifications governing water line and fire hydrant installation approved by the Council and on file with the City Engineer.
(2) All water lines shall be at least six inches in diameter.
(3) To eliminate future street excavations, all underground utilities for fire hydrants, together with the fire hydrants themselves and all other supply improvements, shall be installed before any final paving of a street shown on the subdivision plat.
(B) For two-family and multi-family residential and non-residential districts, the subdivider shall install water lines and fire hydrants which connect to a public water main and which are in compliance with construction standards and specifications approved by the Council and on file with the City Engineer. Fire hydrants shall be located within 300 feet of all portions of a building of any occupancy located in multi-family residential and non-residential districts.
(C) For low-density and single-family residential districts, water lines and fire hydrants shall be required as follows:
(1) Fire hydrants shall be located not more than 300 feet away from any residential single-family or two-family lot.
(2) The subdivider shall install water lines and fire hydrants which connect to a public water main and which are in compliance with construction standards and specifications and approved by the Council and on file with the City Engineer.
(3) In cases involving minor subdivisions, as defined herein, where a public water system is not reasonably accessible, the subdivider may install individual wells within the subdivision, provided that the wells are approved in writing by the office of the City Engineer and the County Health Department.
