It is unlawful for any person, in any illegal manner, to set at liberty, rescue or attempt to set at liberty or rescue, any prisoner or prisoners, from any officer or employee of the city having legal custody of the same or from the City Jail or other place of confinement by the city, or to assist the prisoner in ny manner to escape from the prison or custody either before or after conviction, including escape from a vehicle of confinement.
